Cable Spinning

A member of the suspension crew pulls the first cable, known as a 'pilot line,' from the Gig Harbor anchorage down to the southwest shores of the Narrows. Connecting the 5/8-inch pilot line with the same-size cable lowered from the tower is the first phase of installing a bridge suspension system. (Posted 07/22/05)
